Vaughan’s Elvira Caria celebrated for community leadership and excellence as a journalist, professor, and volunteer

How many people can say a street was named after them? Elvira Caria, who has lived in Woodbridge, Vaughan for 25 years, can. Caria Court, in the Vellore Woods area, was named after her.

The street recognizes her 23-year leadership as chair of the Vellore Woods Ratepayers’ Association.

Her latest accolade is being named the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Women of Excellence Honouree for 2025.

“She’s been a major community ambassador for Vaughan for a long time,” said Jennifer Coletta-Rashty, president and CEO of the chamber.

“Her work goes above and beyond what is expected. She’s at charity events, galas. She’s passionate about this community and is very deserving of this award.”

The chamber accepted nominations for this award and its women’s committee, made up of businesswomen from the community, selected the winner.
