Elvira Caria-Award-Winning Journalist, Broadcaster, and Community Leader Awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal

Elvira Caria, a former GTA journalist and multi-platform broadcaster, has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal, an honor recognizing her exceptional contributions to her community. The prestigious award was presented to Caria last month in recognition of her remarkable 37-year career in media, where she has continually set the standard for excellence in her work across print, radio, television, and social media.

Known for her dynamic presence and journalistic integrity, Caria has made an indelible mark on the media landscape of Southern Ontario. Throughout her career, she has covered countless high-profile news stories, including crime reporting, political analysis, and live event broadcasting. Her keen insights, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the truth have earned her numerous accolades, including an award for Media Integrity & Fairness.

Caria’s contributions extend beyond her work in front of the camera. She has served as an influential voice in public discourse, interviewing political leaders, including Prime Ministers, and co-hosting the popular “Rush Hour Newstalk Show.” She has also been a longtime mentor and educator, teaching at Humber College’s School of Media Studies, where she shared her extensive expertise with future media professionals.

A passionate philanthropist, Caria’s dedication to community service is equally noteworthy. Her work with local organizations has earned her honors such as The Order of Vaughan and the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Women of Excellence Honouree for 2025. Caria has also been recognized for her leadership as Chair of a Ratepayer’s Association in Vaughan, where her contributions werecommemorated with the naming of a street in her honor—Caria Court.

In receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal, Caria joins an exclusive group of individuals who have demonstrated extraordinarydedication to their communities and professions. Her commitment to impactful storytelling, volunteerism, and advocacy continues to inspire those who work alongside her and those who follow her career.
